Mission #3: White is the New Green

In my efforts to paint this immense amount of roofing, I aspire to inspire your own cool roof ambition.

Cool roofing systems can reduce a building's electric bill an average of 20%, but can reach over 40% in savings. There have even been electrical savings recorded nearly up to 50%. This ultimately reduces our dependence on fossil fuels and reduces CO2 emissions.

A heat island occurs on the surface and in the atmosphere of a metropolitan area, which is significantly warmer than its surrounding rural areas. According to the EPA, heat islands can affect communities by increasing summertime peak energy demands, air pollution, air conditioning costs, greenhouse gas emissions, heat-related illnesses and mortality and impairing water quality.

By reflecting sunlight back into space, we help cool the planet just as Greenland reflects sunlight with its white ice sheets. This effect can collectively drastically reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

In my four missions, I seek to inspire a world where no one person is too small to make a difference and where every single person matters; to empower people with over a million reasons to join hands and feel unafraid in embarking on our collective, generational mission to stand up for a cause, whether it's ecological or not, and to draw attention to Everything Connects where a vast ecologically rooted, universally important base of knowledge awaits with near-endless possibilities towards a safer, healthier and sustainable future.
